Welcome to the Run+Bike -15Km Race which is taking place at a promising location for a gorgeous and full Sunday. Visitors are provided with facilities for mild exercise and recreation coupled with a visit to one of the most important biotopes in the wider Athens area.
What
15Km Run+Bike only for team participation (Men, Women, Mixed teams)
The race will start with running and after 500 meters cyclists will await for the runners, who will cycle next to their runner member of the team in a separate lane. Once the runner wants to rest and change places the cyclist becomes runner and the runner cyclist and these changes continue till the finish line. The total distance of 15 km will be covered by both athletes.
Where
In the Olympic Rowing Center in Schinias close to the Marathon city in the north east of Athens. Marathon is not just one of the most famous toponyms around the world, but also a city worth visiting and admiring for its natural beauty and enchanting atmosphere.
Built on the northeast coast of Attica, just 40 km away from the center of Athens, Marathon has become a very attractive destination for visitors, as it is only twenty minutes away from Athens International Airport and just ten minutes away from the port of Rafina, a port that connects the Greek capital with the cosmopolitan Aegean islands.
Thousands of visitors are attracted every year for pleasure (pleasure beaches, swimming, water sports), bird watching and enjoying the scenery. Historically, the area identifies with the battlefield of Marathon, and particularly the Persians' camp, while the Marathon's Battle Trophy is within walking distance. In the around area visitors can find the Marathon Lake, the Schinias Bay and the Museum of Marathon.

Deadline registration
Registration is open until Friday, 5th of December 2013. Participation can be obtained via online registration.
Health Coverage
In any case all runners participate solely at their own risk. The organizers have no responsibility for whatever happens to the runners related to health issues or is due to lack of preventive medical check. It is highly recommended that the participants undergo a thorough medical examination before entering the race. The organizers will not ask for medical certificates from any athlete (male and female), since they all participate at their own exclusive risk and responsibility (children are at the liability of their parents or guardians). We will also provide offers for special health checkup for all runners, and members of their families.
Electronic Timing
All participants will be timed by a timing company using an electronic timing system. For this reason, the runners must wear the timing chip they will receive from the registration center together with the participation number.
Attention: Your time will not be registered and will not be included in the results if you do not have the timing chip attached to your shoe and not pass over the timing mats.
Aid Stations
Every 2.5 km will be fuel stations of water.
Awards
A commemorative medal will be given to all participants who finish the race.

It is also one of the few areas of Attica, which combines the blue sea and the green of the mountains (as it is located at the foothills of Mount Penteli and bordered by the Gulf of Evia).

The Olympic Rowing Center of Schinias National Park – integrated to NATURA 2000- hosted the rowing and canoe events at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. The place offres the opportunity to young and older friends to meet the athletes, watch races, get familiar with the sports and become members of the Academies hosted in the sports complex.
The area is one of the last remaining refuges in Attica prefecture, where large numbers of migratory birds flock during the migration season to the Schinias wetland, and one of the largest wetlands in southern Greece, including many threatened species such as the Great Egret, the Ferruginous Duck and the Glossy Ibis.
A rare habitat, Schinias bay stands out with its soft, sandy beach with its famous coastal pine forest consisting of Umbrella Pine and Aleppo Pine trees - one of the three forests of this type in Greece.
The Sea Daffodil, a symbol of beauty and vigor since antiquity, can be seen in protected corners of the beach while Neptune Grass plants, which thrive only in clean water, can be found in the Park’s sea, providing shelter to numerous small fish species.
Marathon is located only 40 kilometers from Athens, thus visitors can enjoy both Marathon and Athens. Athens is a city with glorious history and vivid present. Athens is a city of different aspects. A walk around the famous historic triangle, Plaka, Thission and Psyrri, the old neighborhoods, reveal the coexistence of different eras. It is worthwhile to take a stroll through the central streets with their art déco, art nouveau and antebellum buildings.

In the Maroussi suburb (north of the centre) are the facilities of the Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens, where the majority of the athletic events were held during the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. Halandri (next to Maroussi) is also worth a visit, with its beautiful street markets and stylish cafes and bars.
